Unknown Soldier: Robert Aldrich

Robert Aldrich grew up in a family of prominent politicians and entrepreneurs which could have determined the course of his life to a totally different direction. But, as he himself put it: “Working in show business seemed more fun than working in newspapers or in a bank.” Aldrich started his film career in Hollywood studios where he directed B movies under Hecht-Lancaster Productions and gradually became one of the leading action movie filmmakers. Aldrich viewed a film stage as a ring to throw his actors in, letting them whirl in chaos and violence. Summer Film School will screen four of his films focusing on his apt depictions of male matters and female intrigues and his oftentimes underrated ways of working with actors.
